The AHQ in the Past

Before 1989, the AHQ members included low hornist Jon Levin, then second
horn with the Philharmonia Hungarica. This picture was taken at Geof's
house in Ersdorf, Germany, in June, 1989, during our preparations for
the 4th Philip Jones International Brass Chamber Music Competition in
Barcs, Hungary (where we won 1st Prize).

After our success in Barcs, Jon had to retire from horn playing for
health reasons. Soon afterwards, we were able to find Charles Putnam to
replace him. This picture dates from 1990, when we tried to get a nice
photo of us all together for our brochure.

This picture dates from 1991, it was taken after a concert in the Villa
Louvigny in Luxembourg Ville.

On tour in April 1995, we stop to hang out with Charlie's college pal Ed
in Atlanta.

The AHQ has performed in most countries in western Europe, Japan, Hong
Kong and North America. This picture, from 1994, was taken in front of
the Rudolfinum in Prague, in the Czech Republic.

While we are on tour we get a chance to relax. These two pictures are
from Mozart's house outside of Prague.

Our tours can be very tiring too!

This picture, in front of Avery Fisher Hall in New York, is from our
tour in 1995.

In this picture we were in the Czech Republic at the Horn Workshop in
Nova Straseci (1992). Also in the picture are Jiri Havelik, Arkady
Shilklopper and Zdenek Divoky.

When on tour we play both concerts and often attend workshops. This
picture is from the South East Horn Workshop in West Virginia in 1994.

Our first trip to Hong Kong was in 1994, here we are rehearsing the
Schumann with the student orchestra.

On this wonderful morning we were guests at Bill Capps' house in
Tallahassee (1995).

During this trip to Tallahassee we also performed the "Casbah of
Tetouan" with Michelle Stebleton.

We travel far and wide in the states, and we have gotten to know many
hotels on our journeys. This is one of our favorites.

During our recording with the Sinfonia Warsovia in July, 2003 in Warsaw,
we had the chance to spend time with Igor Szeligowski, solohorn of the
Polish Radio Orchestra.

In July of 2004, the AHQ attended the IHS International Symposium held in Valencia, Spain. Here we are with
the Budapest Festival Horn Quartet and Kristina Mascher, preparing for our performance
at the opening concert.

Also in Valencia we had the chance to have dinner with with Frank Lloyd and Herman Baumann.
